ANALYSIS AND DEBATE CENTRE

The opinions and perspectives of experts and researchers

The V World Wine Forum will attempt to promote the debate related to improving the positioning of European wine not only as a consumer product, but also as a way of life based on important aspects such as a sense of well-being and good health, leisure time and cultural activities, the rural world or the attraction that stimulates the wine culture.

With this potential, we are not only trying to increase wine consumption, we are also trying to reserve the endogenous development of the European wine producing areas and, thereby, their current quality of life.

In this context, the countries who traditionally produce wine should:

Defend their wine producing culture, which forms the social and economic basis for many of their regions.

• Organise and defend themselves with international institutions.

• Insist that the standards, the markets and the consumers recognise the differences between making wine and manufacturing wine.

• Come up with and incorporate innovative ideas without losing their individuality.

• Generate new enterprises.

• Open and maintain new markets.

MEETING POINT

Business meetings, and a drive to promote an international organisation to defend the interests of the European sector

Another goal of the V World Wine Forum is to join forces with the traditional wine producing countries and unite them in a single organisation that studies the potential of European viticulture, defends its interests and revitalises the sector and the producers themselves, as well as the new business that is springing up around them.

This organisation would be capable of defending the European model and the international and European institutions in such a way that laws will keep an eye on vine growing and wine producing practices based on the global model and will obligate those producers to at least clearly indicate the

components and ingredients on their wine labels that they used during production in order to avoid any confusion among consumers.

In addition, wine cellar representatives of the European model who are in charge of designing and implementing policies pertaining to viticulture will conduct closed-door meetings where they will study forthcoming legal changes and their repercussions, as well as the necessity to join forces to fight for the interests of the European wine producing industry.

KNOWLEDGE FAIR

Presentation of research efforts and exchange of innovative ideas that have been designed and implemented by the wine sector and other related sectors

The World Wine Forum will again invite researchers, trading associations, representatives of regulatory councils, economists, marketing and administration managers, tourism experts, publicists and everyone associated with the sector to present their work in the form of communications or posters that represent the latest news and methods in the wine industry.

In this fifth edition, professional contributions will become an authentic Knowledge Fair, encouraging presentation of work and exchange of ideas amongst researchers, business leaders and representatives of different institutions.

Also, important news:

There will be a special area where the authors can read and exhibit their communications and works concerning the latest advances in viticulture and oenology.

• The Science Board will evaluate in particular those ideas for admission that are applicable, which contribute to the real economy of the wine industry and, especially, that can be used by the companies in this industry. These ideas would provide the opportunity to establish contacts during the V World Wine Forum and to initiate business relationships.
