Objetives

Great Wines from La Rioja was started in 2000 with a particular purpose: its aim was to remind critics, consumers, wine experts and specialised shops that La Rioja has always set the pace for the quality of modern Spanish wine; and nowadays, it continues to be the unquestionable leader in Spain and intends to keep its position as the reference point for Spanish winemaking.

It also seeks to show that modern winemaking processes, which are at the fore of quality wines at world level, are the result of the long winemaking tradition of the region. These new processes can be tasted together with the great classic wines of La Rioja, which will show that there are equally great wines with different styles.

In this way, the quality of the great wines from La Rioja will be underlined, regarding both those that have appeared in recent years, which have been quick to receive top awards, and the region’s historic wines, which show that the new great wines are based on sound tradition; and that their style of structured wines and wines “to be kept” has been a part of the great classic wines from La Rioja for decades, and remains so today for a great number of consumers.
