The influence of varieties, cultivation costs, new products and the environment.
While being aware of the influence of grape quality in the quality of wine, the VII World Wine Forum will analyse the importance of genetic improvement and the influence of new varieties on growing practices and on the quality of wine, without forgetting the importance of maintaining native varieties and germoplasm banks. Additionally, at this Forum we will hold debates about cultivation costs in order to increase competitiveness in the sector, about the adaptation of vine growing to obtain new products and about the impact of the vine growing sector on the environment.
New wine growing practices, replacing existing practices, new products.
The VII World Wine Forum will generically analyse the latest techniques and winemaking processes used in vinification, focussing on the adaptation to current consumer demands and respect for the environment. We will also study other aspects such as conditions for the production of new products and the use of new presentations (containers and closures) and their influence on the quality of wine.
Application of the new EU regulations concerning quality, labelling and guarantee of origin protection indications.
The Legislation side of the Forum will deal with the application of the new European Union legislation concerning the protection of quality indications, covering vine growing and winemaking and also brands and labelling.
The general economic situation, consequences of the economic crisis on vine growing and the winemaking sector, communication with consumers and emerging markets.
The subjects relating to Economy and Marketing will focus on the general economic climate and the vine growing and winemaking sector, as well as the changes stemming from the use of recent information technologies over the Internet, Social Networks, etc. Furthermore, the importance of training personnel at sales outlets will be analysed in order to optimise communication with consumers and thus increase business opportunities.
In this section, the VII World Wine Forum will offer key factors to increasing competitiveness in established markets and will discuss new strategies to increase consumption. The business possibilities in emerging countries such as China, India and Singapore will also be analysed.
